Our Purpose

Howdy Dawg started with two friends, good dogs, and a passion for the mountains of the American West.

Ian and Jon here. Hiking around and shredding down is how we spend our winters. Jon brings his pup, Hyla, along whenever he can, her sense of exploration every bit as crazy as ours. We've been skiing and snowboarding on mountains across the country for years, giving us the chance to put plenty of gear through its paces.

Growing up in the midwest, we weren't exactly fond of the winter cold snaps in -10 degrees with nothing better to do than sled down a hill, if there was even any snow at all. We decided to supercharge our winters and eventually found our way to Utah.

Besides the slopes, a few other passions have led us to spend plenty of time in frigid temps. Jon played hockey growing up and continued through college and beyond, playing weekly to this day. Ian grew up around agriculture and has been working in it off and on since his teenage years. Both of these experiences gave us early insight into winter outerwear, whether it was wearing it for long hours on the ice or out feeding cows in the winter wind.

That's thousands of hours moving around in the cold, enough to know you need an outer layer that breathes, lets you dump heat, and still holds up against the wind on an exposed ridge.

Solving The Problem:

After all that time we came to a conclusion: the best piece of gear to have is a Shredsuit, better known to most as a ski suit or snow suit. These one-pieces keep your gear close, block out the wind, and keep your body dry all day during intense alpine activities. We wore other ski suits for years and something was always missing.

Whenever we tried to get friends into mountain sports, the cost of gear often became a roadblock. We’d often hear, "I want to try skiing or snowboarding, but I don’t want to spend a grand on gear before I even know if I enjoy it." While our answer was always something like, "I’m pretty sure you’ll love it," we understood their hesitation. Asking someone to drop $500+ on just a jacket and pants is a big ask, especially if their current warmest outerwear is a hoodie.

That’s why we've spent the last few years developing the ultimate ski suit: a one-piece designed to bring the best vibes to the mountain. Whether you're a nature lover, a nostalgia junkie, or just someone looking to bring smiles to the slopes, our Shred Suits deliver. They look great, but the utility is even more important. We want a first-timer in one of our suits to have just as good of a day in the cold as a guide who's been running sleds through powder for eight hours straight.

For far too long, the rising cost of lift tickets and gear has made winter sports less accessible. We are trying to do our part to make a dent in that problem by offering a radical, all-in-one solution for staying warm and keeping the most important gear close. With a Howdy Dawg Shred Suit, you can enjoy snowy weather as much as your pup does, no matter the conditions.

Thanks for stopping by our shop! We hope to see you out there putting edges to powder and bringing righteous vibes to the mountain!
